Natural Gas.
Natural gas is one of the most environmentally friendly sources of energy and a natural ressource available in the country.
Significant reduction of emissions
• Non-toxic, no smog, no smoke
• Reduced noise and lower fuel costs
• Longer lifespan of engines and buses
• Higher emission standards (Euro 5)
• 100% foreign currency savings
• Local ressources
Flare Gas based CNG
Recovery & utilization of flare gas has a similar environmental impact as the utilization of natural bio gas and can dramatically reduce CO2 footprint.
Flare gas based CNG is today the cleanest source of energy available in Africa as it is waste to energy and solves a critical environmental problem while having a significantly higher positive environmental impact than solar energy or other renewables.
CO2 emission balance per kWh by switching from Diesel to recovered flare gas operation
Bio GNC
Driving with pure organic gas (Bio-CNG) is the most environmentally friendly solution wherever this green fuel is available.
Advantages of Buses run by Natural Gas over E-Buses
In an isolated view, e-buses are the cleanest mode of transport, and this is usually true at the scene of operation, in the city. Yet, the real impact of E-mobility is more complex in an aggregate environmental balance.
The key problem of E-buses are mainly the production and recycling of batteries. In city buses they have to be changed at an average of 7 years as they lose charging capacity and cannot fulfill anymore the cycle requirements.
Beside the fact that the costs of such a battery pack is close to the cost of an entire conventional bus, the major problem is the correct handling and treatment of the replaced batteries. They are highly dangerous waste. That is a costly but manageable problem in countries with mature waste management culture but extremely critical in emerging countries. Another crucial factor that drives the real environmental impact of E-buses is the source of energy.
Public transport buses have to be charged over night when no solar energy is available. Electricity from coal or oil further stress the environmental balance.
